A few hours after completing the signing of Axel Disasi from AS Monaco, Chelsea has made another vital investment in their defence ranks, as the club confirmed the signing of Roberto Sanchez from Brighton & Hove Albion this morning.

The goalkeeper joins the Blues on a seven-year contract until 2030, for £20m fee plus £5m add-ons, per Fabrizio Romano.

The signing of Sanchez means Chelsea now has two Spaniard shot-stoppers in their ranks, as the 25-year-old joins Kepa Arizabalaga who has been at the club since 2018, following his switch from Atletic Bilbao.

Chelsea’s co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Robert to Chelsea and he adds further quality to our goalkeeping unit.

“Robert has repeatedly proved himself in the Premier League and been capped by his country. We are excited to watch him work with Mauricio and his coaching team during the season ahead.”

Sanchez who has been a Brighton player ever since age 15 now officially ends his 10-year relationship with the club, coming on as a direct replacement to Edouard Mendy who departed Stamford Bridge for Saudi Arabia.

According to rumours, Chelsea are not yet done with their summer business with the Seagulls, as both teams are reportedly still locked in negotiations for Moses Caicedo.
