Tottenham Hotspur has announced the signing of James Maddison from Leicester City on a five-year deal until June 2028.

The initial fee is understood to be in the region of £40million, with add-ons taking the deal to £45m.

Maddison has been a Leicester player since July 2018, making 203 appearances over five years with the club and scoring 55 goals and 41 assists — including 19 goal contributions in 32 appearances last season. However, the relegation of the Foxes from the topflight league to the Championship sealed the English star’s move away from the club.

Maddison will be Spurs’ second signing of the window, after the club signed Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from Serie A side Empoli on Tuesday.

Dejan Kulusevski’s loan move from Juventus was also made permanent a few days ago, ahead of coach Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge of the North London club.
