D’Tigers suffered another heartbreak barely 24 hours from the first defeat to Niger on Friday night.
The Nigerian male basketball team were stunned by their Ugandan counterparts 72-62. This is their second qualifier games ahead of the FIBA Afrobasket competition schedule to be held in 2025.
How it started
The game started with both teams not finding their stance, it was a slow start to the game by both teams. After some minutes, the Nigerian team was awarded free throws. Ibe Agu had the throws and missed all.
The Ugandan team gained their stance and were leading by 5 points. Opong knocked down a three to extend Uganda’s lead to a 6 point.
The Q1 ended with the Ugandan team leading with 12 points, and the Nigerian team having 7 points. The game continued, and after a 9 point deficit, the Ugandan team rose up their points to a 22, leaving the Nigerian team behind with 13 points.
With 2.28 minutes remaining in the first half, Buchi reduced the deficit further to 5 points equating to 17 points to the Nigerian team. The Ugandan team struck again with an additional 10 points ahead of D’tigers.
At full time, the Ugandan team won against the Nigerian team with 72 points.
