Sean Dyche is surprised that Vincent Kompany became the Bayern Munich manager after being relegated with Burnley. Kompany’s first season at Burnley saw them win the Championship, but he could not keep the team in the Premier League the following year. Dyche, the former Burnley boss, is puzzled by this decision as Kompany left the club with significant debt.

Last season, Burnley only earned 24 points in the Premier League under Kompany’s leadership. Given these results, Dyche finds it hard to believe Kompany was appointed to such a prestigious role at Bayern Munich. Dyche had previously led Burnley to Europe, achieving impressive results despite a more defensive style.

Kompany’s managerial style is different. He prefers a more attractive brand of football, which may have influenced Bayern’s decision to hire him. Additionally, other managers might have turned down the Bayern job, making Kompany a suitable candidate.

He told talkSPORT: “We’ve gone to big Komps (Kompany), haven’t we? 24 (points), I think they got. It’s been £127m and got the Bayern job. Come on, I don’t know how that works. I wish I was doing it. I wish I’d have left the club £127m in debt and then got the Bayern job. Anyways, there’s an interesting twist of life.”

While Dyche seeks a new opportunity in football management, Kompany’s current focus is on leading Bayern. The team will play against St Pauli in the Bundesliga on Saturday, aiming to reclaim the title from Bayer Leverkusen.
