Real Madrid came from a goal down to snatch a late win 2-1 over rivals Barcelona at the Camp Nou courtesy of Jude Bellingham’s brace.
Barcelona got themselves an early lead just six minutes into the encounter after Aurelien Tchouameni’s weak interception allowed former Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan a one-on-one chance to slot the ball past Kepa Arizabalaga.
The remainder of the first half was short of any real threat from both Spanish giants, as both teams headed for the break with little attacking threat after the early opener.
However, the opening minutes of the second half seemed like Barca were going to extend their lead but Carlo Ancelotti’s men had Kepa and the woodwork to thank for not conceding a second goal.
Sensing the danger, Ancelloti substituted Toni Kross for Luka Modric, and the introduction of the Croatian legend sparked Los Blancos’ comeback.
A few minutes after Tchouameni was denied by Marc-Andre ter Stegen, the man of the moment Bellingham, pounced on a poor clearance outside the box to fire in a rocket past Stegen for the leveller.
With an already boosted confidence, Madrid intensified efforts for the winner, although they had to wait until the 92nd minute for in-form Jude to get his double. A delightful Dani Carvajal’s cross was knocked down by Luka Modric into the path of Bellingham who kicked home his 13th goal for Real Madrid sending them to the summit of La Liga and condemning Xavi’s Barca to their first home league loss of the season.
