Jude Bellingham once again proved his worth in stoppage time, securing a second consecutive La Liga El Clásico victory for Real Madrid against their arch-rivals Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday.

Following a Bellingham-inspired 2-1 comeback in the first El Clasico of the season, the Englishman scored a 91-minute goal to extend the Los Blancos’ lead at the log summit to 11 points. The ex-Dortmund star by so doing, became the first Madridista since Ruud van Nistelrooy in 2007 to score in his first two La Liga games against Barça.

Six minutes into the clash, UCL-heartbroken Barça stunned Madrid through Andreas Christensen via a corner kick. However, Real Madrid responded through Vinícius Júnior’s penalty in the 18th minute after a foul on Lucas Vázquez.

Controversy ensued as VAR couldn’t confirm whether Lamine Yamal’s flick had crossed the line for Real Madrid, while both teams missed opportunities before halftime.

The match burst into life in the final 20 minutes, with Fermín López putting Barça ahead before Vázquez equalised for Madrid barely four minutes after.

It appeared as though both Spanish giants would settle for a draw, but Bellingham came clutch once again, as he sealed victory for Real Madrid with a thunderous strike to end Barcelona’s  10-match unbeaten run in the league, and all but confirm Madrid’s league triumph with six games left to go.
