Empire State Building to Shine in Net’s Old Color for Vince Carter’s Jersey Retirement

The Empire State Building is set to honor NBA legend Vince Carter in a big way. On January 25, the iconic landmark will be lit up in the Nets’ old colors – red, white, and blue – to celebrate Carter’s jersey retirement. The No. 15 will also be rotating on the building’s spire, adding to the festivities.

Carter, who played five seasons with the New Jersey Nets, will have his jersey retired at halftime during the Brooklyn Nets’ game against the Miami Heat. This marks the seventh jersey retirement in Nets history, with Carter’s No. 15 joining the likes of Jason Kidd, Dražen Petrović, and Julius Erving.

The Nets switched to their current black and white colors in 2012, but for one night, they’ll revisit their classic look to honor Carter’s incredible legacy. He averaged 23.6 points per game during his time with the Nets and set the franchise record with 2,070 points in the 2006-07 season.
