Manchester City gave Burnley a 3-0 welcome back to the Premier League courtesy of goals from Erling Haaland and Rodri at Turf Moor this evening.

Coming from the narrow defeat to Arsenal last weekend in the Community Shield, City wasted no time in laying claim on today’s encounter, and it was through the usual suspect Haaland. The Norwegian tapped in from Rodri’s header inside the box to fire his side 1-0 up and continue from where he stopped last season.

City lost quite a bit of momentum after losing Kevin De Bruyne to injury in the 23rd minute, but Haaland made the difference again, as he expertly buried Alvarez’s pass into the net to stamp the away team’s lead before halftime.

The second half was not any different, as Burnley couldn’t perfect their chances despite some good moments against the PL champions. City then killed off the game in the 75th minute through Rodri who sent a loose ball back into the net and seal his side’s victory on the night.

The night further got worse for Vincent Kompany’s side, as Anass Zaroury got sent off for a high challenge on Kyle Walker in the closing minutes of the game.
