Portugal and Manchester United right back, Diogo Dalot, has disclosed that every Portugal player wants to help Cristiano Ronaldo win the prestigious FIFA World Cup before he retires.
Describing his fellow International teammate, Dalot showered praise on Ronaldo, tagging it a privilege to feature alongside him.
“Obviously, it is difficult to find more adjectives to describe Cristiano. For me, and I believe for others too, it is a huge privilege to continue having him in the national team, to share moments and to soak up the experience of his career”, Dalot said.
The Man United man went on to claim that every national teammates wants to see their star man win big titles, the World Cup especially.
“There is this energy of wanting to see him win big competitions for Portugal. The love he has shown throughout his career cannot be questioned.
“And, for us, using that as an example, it would be a beautiful story to see him win as many competitions as possible for Portugal. I believe that every player wants that.”
Ronaldo has featured in five World Cups, since playing his first in 2006, which saw Portugal reach the semis.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner will be 41 by the time next year’s World Cup is staged in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
However, the 2026 tournament is likely to be Ronaldo’s final chance at winning the biggest national competition. He will be fancying his chance at joining arch rival, Lionel Messi, in claiming the golden trophy.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo has won other titles with Portugal, leading the Selecao to glory at Euro 2016, and the 2019 Nations League.
The Al-Nassr man could still add up another before the World Cup, as Portugal faces Denmark in the two-legged quarter-finals of the Nations League.
