Manchester United bottled a three-goal lead at Wembley against Coventry for the first time since 2013 to eventually win by penalties on Sunday evening at the FA Cup semifinal game.

The Red Devils got their goals up against their Championship opponent before the hour mark, with goals from trio players, Scott Mctominay and Harry Maguire scoring in the first half before Bruno Fernandez finished off Marcus Rashford’s attack on Coventry.

However, a lack of concentration cost United towards the end of the game, whereby they conceded three goals within 24 minutes.

Firstly, Ellis Simms put Coventry in the race with a superb kick from Fabio Tavares’ pass.

Callum O’hare’s shot was then deflected off Aaron Wan Bissaka’s back for the second goal, while the defender also caused the penalty that was scored by Haji Wright in the 95th minute.

Penalties

Manchester United defeated underdogs Coventry 4-2 via penalties to proceed to a consecutive FA Cup final against rivals Manchester City.

Andre Onana rose to the occasion, saving Callum O’Hare’s spot-kick to level United at the shootout after Casemiro failed to put United in front with his penalty.

Captain Ben Sheaf played his penalty over the bar, while Bruno Fernandez was normal, with his spot-kick pocketing the ball in the right corner.

Rasmus Hojlund, who had a silent evening, gave United the elongated victory, deceiving goalkeeper Bradley Collins.
