Chelsea boss, Mauricio Pochettino could not have coached a much better game. His team got in the positions to win that match twice over, but he was left to rue missed opportunities once again.
After the game at Wembley which saw Chelsea recording their 11th elimination in the FA cup semifinals and first defeat to Manchester City, Pochettino complained about his boys lackluster performances against the defending Champions.
“It is so easy to explain. We conceded in a moment you should not concede. We were not capable of being clinical in front of goal, we had many chances but we did not score. I see think in the game we were a little bit better and deserved more, but it is not about deserving it, it is about being clinical and we were not today.”
Although Chelsea appealed for a penalty which was waved away in the second-half when Cole Palmer’s free-kick struck Jack Grealish’s arm in the box, before Silva scored a late winner as City kept their FA Cup defence alive.
Bernardo Silva scored an 84th minute winner at Wembley to keep Manchester City’s double hopes alive and punish wasteful Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals to consolidate their UCL defeat to Real Madrid during the week.
Just days after missing a penalty in the shootout defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League, Silva struck late on as Pep Guardiola’s side claimed a narrow 1-0 win. But Chelsea suffered more Wembley heartbreak after Mauricio Pochettino’s side missed several clear chances to take the lead, with Nicolas Jackson spurning three clear opportunities.
