Florian Wirtz named Bundesliga Player of the Season

Bayer Leverkusen attacker Florian Wirtz has been named the Bundesliga Player of the 2023/24 season, for his contributions to Leverkusen’s historic feat.

Wirtz, under the tutelage of manager Xabi Alonso scored 11 goals, and assisted 11, as Leverkusen won the Bundesliga title for the first time in their 119-year history.

The German international was also voted the Best Player of the Month in October, December and February. Despite being rested at the tail end of the season, Wirtz came clutch for the Bundesliga champions several times from the bench.

The Die Werkself not only won the Bundesliga unbeaten, but they also ended Bayern Munich’s 11-year supremacy.
