Paris Saint-Germain is ready to enter the transfer competition to recruit Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes, as they look to split ways with Manuel Ugarte. Prior to the 2023-24 season, the Ligue 1 winners paid Sporting CP €60 million (£52 million/$64 million) for Ugarte.

However, the Uruguayan has failed to meet expectations, appearing in 37 matches across all competitions and contributing three assists. According to reports, PSG is already considering parting ways with the defensive midfielder after only one season.

Sporting director Luis Campos has named two high-profile midfielders on the club’s shortlist to replace the 23-year-old. The roster includes Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich and Newcastle’s Guimaraes.

The Magpies player has recently been the subject of considerable speculation, with numerous elite teams, including Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester City, vying for his services. The 26-year-old signed a new agreement last summer and has a £100 million ($125 million) release clause on his current contract, which is valid until 2028.

The French giants, who won three titles under Luis Enrique this season, are poised to make significant changes to their current roster as they pursue the elusive Champions League triumph.
