Serhou Guirassy scored a 83rd-minute winner in Borussia Dortmund’s 2-1 victory over St Pauli, taking them fourth in the table.
The Guinea international Guirassy headed in a cross, to secure all three points. His goal came five minutes after Eric Smith had given the visitor a stunning 30-yard equaliser.
With two minutes remaining into the break, Dortmund took a deserved lead through Ramy Bensebaini’s looping header.
The German giant should have added another but Julian Brandt and Donyell Malen missed glaring chances. The newly promoted side almost made them pay as they equalised with Smith’s 30-yard rocket in the 78th minute.
However, Guirassy rescued the host, heading in a cross from Jamie Bynoe-Gittens for his fourth goal of the campaign.
Nuri Sahin’s side are now on 13 points, sitting fourth on the Bundesliga table.
They will face Real Madrid in the Champions League next week away from home.
