Hakimi’s double secures PSG’s win over Lyon, moves 13 points clear

Paris Saint-Germain earned a 3-2 victory over rivals, Olympique Lyon, to move 13 points clear at the Ligue 1 summit.

Achraf Hakimi scored twice, with Dembele netting also as the league leaders survived a Lyon fightback to earn all three points.

The game started with the first half ending as a stalement, despite PSG’s threat.

However, Luis Enrique’s side broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute, as Hakimi raced in unmarked to convert from Bradley Barcola’s delightful delivery.

PSG doubled their lead six minutes later, courtesy of in-form attacker, Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman arrowed into the top corner after being played through by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Lyon pulled one back with seven minutes back, as Rayan Cherki scored Georges Mikautadze’s brilliant run and selfless assist.

However, Hakimi restored PSG’s two-goal cushion two minutes later, netting into the bottom corner.

Lyon tried fighting back with stoppage time remaining but could only reduce the deficit, as captain Corentin Tolisso headed home Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ 92nd-minute delivery.

The victory ensured PSG extended their lead at the top of the table, following Marseille’s defeat to Auxerre on Saturday.
