Hawks waive 15-year veteran guard Patty Mills

Patty Mills, a 15-year veteran guard, was dismissed by the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday. The Hawks used the 35-year-old Mills sparingly after acquiring him from Oklahoma City in the previous summer. In 19 games with Atlanta, he averaged 2.7 points and 1.1 rebounds.

Additionally, the Hawks turned guard Trent Forrest’s two-way contract into an NBA standard. Through 20 games this season, he is averaging 2.0 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.

After spending two years on a similar arrangement with Utah, Forrest—an undrafted Florida State player—spent the previous season with the Hawks on a two-way contract.
Over the course of his career, Mills has made 879 appearances, 107 of which have been starts, mostly with the San Antonio Spurs. Before joining the Hawks, he was a player for Portland and Brooklyn as well. During his playing career, he averaged 8.9 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.
