According to Brazilian international Ganso, Lionel Messi “an ET” and Inter Miami sensation seems to get better and better every year. The 36-year-old Argentine superstar continues to astonish and excite people just as much as ever. He has been stunning audiences all over the world for almost 20 years, earning an unprecedented number of accolades in the process.
After leading his nation to World Cup victory in Qatar in 2022, Messi is in the race for an eighth Ballon d’Or in 2023. He has also made an immediate impression in the United States since leaving European football at Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain to pursue the American dream with Inter Miami.
Given that the Brazil international midfielder faced the South American legend at the Club World Cup few years ago, Ganso is one of those who believes Messi to be superhuman. When asked whether the Barcelona team Santos faced that day was superior than Manchester City that won a Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League treble last season, Ganso said:
“Barcelona. This City side is outstanding, but Barcelona had a fantastic XI and an ET, the genius of world football. He’s simply a genius. You can’t help but admire him. That was in 2011. You look at him now, how he has evolved, and it’s difficult to believe. He seems to get better and better every year. It was a privilege to see Messi play up close. Like I said, Messi is an ET.”
Within weeks of his arrival in the country, Messi assisted Inter Miami in winning the Leagues Cup and giving them a chance to win the U.S. Open Cup, but he was injured and missed that game. Now that they have advanced to the MLS playoffs, he want to see them win more trophies.
