Tottenham would have to battle for their heads for the next four to five weeks as Cristian Romero joins the pool of injured players in the London club. The defender who has started in 15 games and registered three goals in the EPL this season has been confirmed to be absent from the Spurs squad till the end of January.

Romero, 25 was substituted abruptly at the start of the second half during Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Everton on Saturday.

With the Argentine defender being attended to with first aid medication he was further examined to have been injured with a hamstring injury which could sideline him for weeks.

Tottenham’s manager, Angel Postecoglou, expressed his disappointment in Romero’s absence seeing that the Argentine had just returned from a suspension.

“He had a scan the other day and has got a hamstring strain. We are looking at probably four or five weeks for him.

“Disappointing to lose him, for sure. We obviously missed him with the suspension and now we’ve just got him back and he steadied things up.

“Now he will be missing again for quite a chunk of time.”

More problems for Tottenham

The absence of Romero compounds problems for Spurs who are eager to clinch the top three position in the EPL. They are currently in the fourth position and playing Brighton and Hove Albion another highly tactical side on Thursday at the Amex Stadium.

Earlier, Tottenham had over four regulars sidelined with different injuries which can be assumed to have caused Spurs’ up-and-down performances in their last six games.
