According to Barcelona’s recent medical update on their full-back — Alejandro Balde, the Spaniard will be out for the next 6-7 weeks due to a partial tear of the lateral collateral ligament of his right ankle.
The 19-year-old suffered the injury at Camp Nou today after being on the end of a horror challenge from Real Mallorca’s Amath Ndiaye around the 17th minute of the encounter.
Balde was swiftly replaced by Sergi Roberto, with Barcelona leading 1-0 thanks to Ansu Fati’s early strike in what is the team’s final home game of the season. Fati grabbed his second later on before Gavi rounded the scoreline 3-0 to give Balde a proper tribute.
The 2022/ 2023 La Liga champions revealed the extent of Balde’s injury a few minutes ago via Twitter, with the Spaniard set to miss his side’s last league game of the season against Celta Vigo next weekend, and also the friendly match against Andres Iniesta’s Vissel Kobe in Japan in the coming days.
Alejandro Balde notched up 44 appearances for Barca this season, registering six assists in the process.
