A super Sunday clash as defending champions, Inter Milan, welcomes Juventus to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
With only one point separating the two Serie A powerhouses, both teams will be gunning for all three points. Inter Milan are second on the log, five points behind Napoli, while Juventus are fourth.
After a slow start to their Scudetto defense, Simone Inzaghi’s men are seemingly back on track. They are currently on a five game winning streak in all competitions.
However, the Derby d’Italia 252nd edition, is bound to be tough, as Juve are getting their footings in the league.
Juventus have a clear-cut lead in the overall head-to-head, (W117, D62, L77). Meanwhile, Inter have recently turned the tables on the Bianconeri, going unbeaten in their last four meetings across all competitions (W2, D2).
Aside from their 2-1 defeat to Milan in September, Inter have been dominant other competitive home matches.
Juventus however, suffered their first loss under new manager Thiago Motta in midweek Champions League against Stuttgart. The Old Ladies, who remains the only Serie A team yet to lose a league game this season, will however need to be uptight against Inter.
Speaking ahead of the game, Motta hopes to face the game, fully focused and with courage. He also viewed his rivals as clear favourites.
It’s clear that the favourites to win the league are Napoli and Inter, they have won the last two Scudetti,” Motta said.
“We have to face Inter with focus and courage. They are a team that plays really good football, they created problems for many sides on the counter-attack.
“They’re a very dangerous side, they regroup quickly, when they get attacked they have a good defensive phase and are also very fast up front, we need to be careful.”
However, Motta was not concerned about the effect of his side’s recent loss, saying the defeat was firmly in his players’ rearview mirror.
“It’s the first defeat that’s happened this season. Even when we win, we move on just the same.
“There’s no time to celebrate or dwell on a victory. The past is in the past; Stuttgart is behind us, and now we’re going to play Inter.”, he said.
While Inzaghi praises Juventus as he believes they would be a tough one for his boys, and the title.
“Juventus are the best team in Europe in terms of goals conceded, they have an excellent coach who I really like and they have invested a lot. They will remain protagonists throughout the year”, the Inter coach said.
