Alex Iwobi express his delight with his team’s effort as Fulham secure their first Premier League victory of the season, overcoming newly-promoted Leicester City at Craven Cottage.

Leicester City fell to Fulham by a score of 2-1 at Craven Cottage on Saturday. The Cottagers open  the goal scores through Emile Smith Rowe early in the first half, only to see Wout Faes level the score from a corner before half-time. The Foxes were caught up the pitch midway throughout the second half This allowed Alex Iwobi to get behind the back line for the winner.

The Nigerian international was instrumental in the win, netting the decisive goal in the 70th minute. This occur after sprinting past Harry Winks and firing a low shot past Leicester’s goalkeeper Mads Hermansen. Reflecting on the match, Iwobi shared his determination to secure all three points.

Speaking to FFCTV, Iwobi stated, “We were proud of our performance against United. But we didn’t get the result we wanted. It was only right we get our first three points at home and there’s no better feeling. The main message was to start on the front foot and I believe that we did, especially the first thirty minutes. We were dominating the game in my opinion.

“We were disappointed to concede the goal in the way that we did. It’s because set pieces are something we work on a lot. But the main thing was to get the three points – to stay resilient and strong in the end. The manager said at halftime to keep playing the way we started the game. Keep applying the pressure the way we did and that’s why we were able to get the second goal.”

When asked how he felt about winning against Wilfred Ndidi’s Leicester, he says: “There is no better feeling than to get our first three points at home. Of course, against one of my fellow Nigerian teammates which is unfortunate for him. But I am happy for him. He played well though not the result they wanted but the result we wanted.”

Ndidi also claim to feel “okay” when asked about playing against a fellow Ñigerian. He says: “I feel okay. I wanted the win but they got it and that is football”
