Nikola Jokic’s historic performance was truly breathtaking. He scored a career-high 61 points, along with 11 rebounds and 10 assists, making it the third 60-point triple-double in NBA history. This achievement tied him with Shaquille O’Neal for the most 50-point games by a center and equaled Wilt Chamberlain’s record for most triple-doubles in a season by a center.

What’s even more impressive is that Jokic played 53 minutes, including 40 straight minutes, without a break. His conditioning and endurance were on full display, especially considering he’s been criticized for his weight and body composition in the past.

Unfortunately, Jokic’s efforts weren’t enough to secure a win for the Denver Nuggets. They lost 140-139 to the Minnesota Timberwolves in double overtime. The Timberwolves’ bench outscored the Nuggets’ reserves 40-14, and Anthony Edwards contributed 34 points to secure the win for Minnesota.

The loss was particularly heartbreaking due to Russell Westbrook’s crucial mistakes in the final seconds of the game. Fans were quick to criticize Westbrook’s missed layup and foul on Nickeil Alexander-Walker, which ultimately led to the Nuggets’ defeat. Despite this, Jokic’s performance will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the greatest individual efforts in NBA history.
