Joselu was the hero as Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid outclassed Getafe 2-0 at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez to leapfrog Girona into the first place on the La Liga table.
Madrid started the encounter on the brighter side, with Vinicius Junior particularly coming close to grabbing the game’s opener early before the deadlock was eventually broken in the 14th minute.
Lucas Vazquez made the most out of a loose ball to send a sumptuous delivery to Joselu who headed past David Soria for the opener.
A few minutes later, Vazquez combined with Joselu once again, but Soria was alerted to save the effort, as the Los Blancos entered the break fully in control of the game.
Upon the second half’s restart, Manchester United’s loanee Mason Greenwood, took it upon himself to rattle Madrid but was pegged back when Vinicius set Joselu up for his second goal in the 56th minute.
Vinicius had a glorious one-on-one chance to increase Madrid’s tally later on, but the Brazilian’s effort was denied by Soria, as Real Madrid claimed their eighth away victory on the road to move two points above Girona.
