Julian Nagelsmann opens the door for Toni Kroos to do a U-turn and rejoin the German national team in time for the country’s Euro 2024 campaign. From 2010 to 2021, Kroos played a crucial role for Die Mannschaft. His greatest accomplishment as a member of the national team was winning the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
But things got much harder for Germany lately, and after a disappointing Euro 2020 campaign, 31-year-old Kroos announced his retirement from the national team. The midfield player and the manager have had a conversation, according to the manager.
Nagelsmann told ZDF’s SportStudio when asked about the prospect of Kroos returning to the fold: “My job is to think about all German players. Toni is a great person who says his opinion clearly – and a very successful footballer. You can talk to him about everything.”
When asked whether the pair spoke about Kroos completing a Germany U-turn during a recent conversation, Nagelsmann added: “No, not concretely. We spoke about general topics.”
“I think playing Euros at home is an attractive prospect for all German players. It depends on him, his performances and on other players.”
Julian Nagelsmann has given Toni Kroos the chance to turn around and rejoin the German national team in time for the squad’s 2024 European campaign. In addition to pursuing his Real Madrid club career, he desire to give his family top priority and spend more time with them. But Kroos who hasn’t said anything about playing for Germany again, is now the center of manager Nagelsmann’s attention.
For Toni kroos, a return to the national side would not be too farfetched as he is still performing at a high level with Los Blancos. The Euros will begin on June 14 2024 with Germany hosting Hungary in the opener.
