Julius Randle, the power forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves, will be sidelined for at least two weeks due to a right adductor strain. This injury occurred during the team’s January 30 game against the Utah Jazz, when Randle was pulled from the second quarter with a right groin strain.
An MRI taken at the Mayo Clinic confirmed the extent of the injury, which was further validated by a second opinion from Dr. Benjamin Domb of the American Hip Institute. The Timberwolves will re-evaluate Randle’s condition in two weeks, at which point they’ll determine the next steps for his recovery.
Randle’s absence will undoubtedly be felt, as he’s been averaging 18.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in 48 games this season. The Timberwolves are currently seventh in the Western Conference, just one game behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the final guaranteed postseason spot.
