Ex-Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has rejected the offer to become Bayern Munich’s new manager, in light of Thomas Tuchel’s departure at the end of the season.
Rangnick has reportedly been in a series of discussions with the Bavarians’ management and was expected to accept their proposal and be announced as the club’s new manager.

However, the 65-year-old has communicated his decision to remain as head coach of the Austria men’s national team ahead of the Euro 2024 in Germany.
“I am the Austrian team boss with all my heart,” Rangnick said. “I really enjoy this task and am determined to successfully continue on our chosen path.
“I would like to expressly emphasize that this is not a rejection of FC Bayern, but rather a decision for my team and our common goals. Our full concentration is on the European Championship. We will do everything we can to get as far as possible!”
Rangnick joins the likes of Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann who had early rejected succeeding Tuchel at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern Munich management will now focus on other profiles for the role, having confirmed that even a UEFA Champions League win won’t stop Tuchel’s departure.
“We would all be happy together winning the UCL and then we go separate ways,” Bayern CEO Dreesen confirms Tuchel’s departure.
“You have to assess the decision at the point in time it was made. It was a different situation.”
After playing a 2-2 home draw with Real Madrid in the UCL semi-final first leg on Tuesday, the German giants could find their way to Wembley should they overcome Carlo Ancelotti’s side at the Santiago Bernabéu next week.
