Udinese clinched their third victory in Serie A this season with a surprising 1-0 over Juventus at the Allianz Stadium, to dent their title hopes.
Juventus who were looking to bounce back from their first back-to-back winless run for the first time this season dominated possession in the opening 20 minutes, with Federico Chiesa and Timothy Weah missing a couple of promising opportunities.
Despite Juventus’ early dominance, Udinese broke the deadlock in the 25th minute when centre-back Lautaro Giannetti scored from inside the six-yard box after a dangerous cross from Lazar Samardzic.
This goal spurred Juventus into action before halftime, but Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye thwarted Arkadiusz Milik’s close-range header, ensuring Udinese went into the halftime break with the lead.
The second half saw Juventus maintaining possession but struggling to create clear chances, before Milik’s header was disallowed for a corner that drifted out of play.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side continued to press for the equalizer as the full-time whistle drew nearer, but Udinese held onto the win to bring an end to their eight consecutive away defeats against the Bianconeri.
