LeBron James made history Friday night, passing Michael Jordan’s record for most 30-point games and surpassing Dirk Nowitzki’s mark for fourth-most games played.
LeBron’s 30-point feat came when he hit an 18-foot jumper midway through the fourth quarter, securing his 563rd 30-point game. This achievement eclipses Jordan’s record, set in 2003, which stood at 562 games. Interestingly, Jordan achieved his record in 1,072 games over 15 seasons, while LeBron broke the mark in his 1,523rd appearance across 22 seasons.
Regarding games played, LeBron moved past Dirk Nowitzki, who previously held the fourth spot with 1,522 games. LeBron now trails only Robert Parish (1,611), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1,560), and Vince Carter (1,541) in this category.
This milestone is just the latest in LeBron’s impressive career. He’s already the NBA’s career scoring leader and holds multiple longevity records, including scoring at least 10 points in 1,253 consecutive games.
