Inter Milan’s striker Lautaro Martinez is set to miss out on the club’s remaining actions in 2023, after picking up a thigh injury in their 2-1 loss to Bologna on Wednesday.
Martinez was subbed off for Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the 99th minute of the Coppa Italia loss at the San Siro and is now likely to miss his side’s forthcoming Seria A games against Lecce and Genoa on the 23rd and 29th of December respectively.
🚨 The feeling after yesterday’s therapy session for Lautaro Martínez is not a good one. His 2023 could be over, most likely missing the upcoming two games. The captain will undergo medical examinations this morning. ©️🇦🇷🚑

Now having undergone the medical tests earlier today, Inter’s official statement reads: “Lautaro Martinez underwent medical examinations this morning at the Istituto Clinico Humanitas in Rozzano.
“The Nerazzurri attacker has suffered a strain to the muscle in his left thigh. His condition will be monitored over the coming days.”
Lautaro Martinez is currently leading the scorers’ chart on the Seria A, having netted 15 times in 16 league games so far in this campaign.

The Argentine international was also reported to be close to signing a contract extension with Inter — a deal rumoured to make him the highest earner at the club.
Simone Inzaghi will be looking to bounce back from Wednesday’s setback with Inter Milan tomorrow when they welcome Leece in their penultimate game of 2023, as they look to solidify their position as the league table toppers.
