The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a 118-97 defeat to the Dallas Mavericks, despite Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving sitting out due to injuries. Fans blasted the team, particularly LeBron James and Anthony Davis, who combined for 39 points but couldn’t secure a win.

P.J. Washington stepped up for the Mavericks, scoring 22 points and grabbing eight rebounds, while Spencer Dinwiddie added 19 points against his former team. Quentin Grimes also had a notable performance with 23 points off the bench.

Austin Reaves took responsibility for his poor performance, admitting he was “really, really bad on both sides of the ball.” The Lakers’ defense struggled, allowing the Mavericks to shoot 52.3% from the field and 47.4% from three-point range.

Coach JJ Redick pointed out the team’s inability to adjust to the Mavericks’ game plan, which targeted Reaves in isolation situations. LeBron James praised Mavericks coach Jason Kidd’s strategy, saying it was “great”.

The loss marks the Lakers’ second consecutive defeat, dropping them to 20-16 and sixth place in the Western Conference. They’ll look to bounce back against the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday.
