Arne Slot feels its still early in the season for Liverpool to be tagged “best performing team” by Bellingham 

Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham recently praised Liverpool, saying they are the best team in Europe right now. However, Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, has downplayed Bellingham’s remarks.

Liverpool performed exceptionally well when they played against Real Madrid at Anfield, securing a 2-0 victory against the reigning Champions League holders.

In this match, Real Madrid struggled to make an impact. It is after this game that Bellingham expressed his belief that Liverpool is the “best-performing team in Europe.”

Currently, Liverpool leads the Premier League, sitting eight points ahead of second-placed Manchester City. They have only lost two domestic matches this season and remain unbeaten in the Champions League, winning all five of their group stage games so far.

Despite this strong performance, Slot does not agree with Bellingham’s claim. He insists that Real Madrid should still hold the title of the best team in the world.

In his statements to the media, Slot said, “If he [Bellingham] refers to the results in the Champions League, then yes, we have been the best-performing team over the last five games due to our standing in the league.”

However, Slot emphasizes that Real Madrid’s recent Champions League win makes them the top team for now. He stated,

“Last night, I said that the best team in Europe is still Real Madrid, as they won the Champions League last season. The team that wins it this season will claim that title.” He notes that it’s still early in the season, with only five games played.

Looking ahead, Liverpool next match will be against Manchester City, where they will hope to extend their lead to 11 points over the defending champions.
