Liverpool have reportedly maintained their interest in OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram this summer. Jurgen Klopp has been on the lookout to bring Thuram in to strenghten the midfield before the Premier League campaign begin.
Quite a number of clubs asides Liverpool are also interested in signing the 22 year old midfielder. They include Inter Milan, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain…. etc. Most recently, Thuram who is popularly known as the ‘jewel of Nice’ has been attracting attention across leagues.
Les Aiglins have reportedly placed a €50m (£43m) price tag on Thuram probably to reduce offers. However, Liverpool would need a few more faces in the centre after losing James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on free transfers, Fabio Carvalho on loan, Fabinho and captain Jordan Henderson to Saudi Arabian sides this summer.
The Reds have signed a couple of players this summer. Alexis Mac Allister and Hove Albion for £35m and Dominic Szoboszlwi for £60m. While this purchases are impressive, Klopp admits more need to be done to ensure they don’t miss out on attaining top four for a second successive season.
While a move to acquire midfielder Romeo Lavia is taking centre stage, Liverpool have seen their three bids rejected so Thuram is another good option to pull the curtain on their midfield rebuild. Liverpool have been monitoring Dewsbury-Hall’s progress with the Foxes over the past year, and have been left impressed but Klopp still feels Thuram would be a better option.
Thuram presently ranks among the top 5 midfielders across Europe’s top five leagues. He was once labelled as ‘tenacious’ by talent scout Jacek kulig. He bags top 9% for successful take-ons, the top 21% for assists and the top 23% for interceptions per 90.
