Since Nigerian midfielder, Alex Iwobi joined London side, Fulham, he is yet to score a goal in the EPL for his club. Although, he registered a goal last Wednesday when Fulham defeated Norwich but it was in the Carabao Cup.
The Nigerian player has played in only three games since his 17.5m pounds deal from Everton on the deadline day, coming on as a substitute in the first two games and starting in the last fixture.
Meanwhile, his performances in the last game might hand him his first EPL start during Fulham’s derby clash with Chelsea tonight at the Craven Cottage.
With the Marco Silva’s tutored side earnestly seeking for their third win in the league, the 46-year-old Portuguese gaffer would also be interested in recording a home back-to-back win- a record that was last set in 1977, 46 years ago.
But while the machinery for the operation is important, Iwobi is a perfect fit to marshal tonight’s game for the London side.
In Iwobi’s last six games against Chelsea, he has only lost twice recording two wins and draws, amounting to 40% win record.
His first goal against Chelsea was far back 2018 while his last was at the Europa league final; all results of both encounters were a five goal thriller. The first one ended 3-2 while the second ended 4-1.
And his average pass accuracy is 70% which means, Iwobi would be useful as a second-phase passer for the Marco Silva team against Chelsea tonight, helping the Cottagers unlock the Blues’ defence with his mercurial passes and movement.
