Anthony Davis, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar, suffered an eye injury during Sunday’s game against the Toronto Raptors. The injury occurred when Davis blocked a dunk attempt by Jakob Poeltl, but unfortunately, Poeltl’s off-hand hit Davis in the face and eyes.
Davis was in obvious pain, rocking back and forth on the ground with his hands on his face, before getting up and walking to the Lakers’ dressing room. The Lakers soon declared him out for the rest of the game with a left eye injury.
This isn’t Davis’ first eye injury; he dealt with a corneal abrasion in the same eye last season. Before exiting the game, Davis had 22 points, four rebounds, and two blocks, showcasing his impressive skills. The Lakers are awaiting further evaluation, and Davis is scheduled to visit an ophthalmologist on Monday as a precaution.
The Lakers will be keeping their fingers crossed that Davis’ injury isn’t too severe, considering his impressive start to the season.
