Romelu Lukaku finally close to moving to Napoli

For £100m flop Romelu Lukaku, Napoli have taken a key step further in talks with Chelsea to sign the Belgian forward permanently this summer. The 2022-23 Serie A champions have presented a formal bid to sign Lukaku.

The two clubs are presently in direct talks over the terms of the deal. The Blues look to permanently offload their £100million (€116m/$127m) flop in the ongoing summer transfer window. The journalist, Fabrizio Romano claims that the Lukaku deal is separate from Victor Osimhen’s.

He also adds that Chelsea will only begin serious talks to sign the Nigerian forward once the Belgium international’s deal gets finalized. There are speculations that Osimhen has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for quite some time. The attacker informed Gli Azzurri that he wants to leave the club this summer.

Lukaku enjoyed a successful loan spell in Italy last season as he scored 21 goals across all competitions in 47 appearances for AS Roma and provided four assists. The West London club did not have the ideal start to the season. In the opening Premier League match, they went down 2-0 against reigning champions Manchester City. They will face Servette in a Europa Conference League play-offs first leg clash.
