Napoli returned to the top of Seria A, after defeating AS Roma 1-0 at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Second-half goal from ex-Roma striker, Romelu Lukaku settled the clash, ruining Claudio Ranieri’s return to Rome.
Ranieri came out of retirement to take charge of the club for a third time, but suffered defeat on his first outing.
Lukaku won the game for Napoli as he was well-placed to convert from Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s cutback.
Roma tried fighting back minutes later but were unlucky as Artem Dovbyk powered his header off the woodwork from a free-kick.
Other efforts proved fruitless as Lukaku’s 54th-minute effort was enough to seal the win. The win sent Antonio Conte’s team back to the top of Serie A.
Meanwhile, Roma have only won three league games out of 13 this season. They are currently sitting on 12th place, 16 points behind Napoli.
