Following Real Madrid’s comeback win over Real Sociedad in their fifth La Liga game of the season, the club’s gaffer Carlo Ancelotti commended his team’s commitment, energy, and desire to get the job done.

Madrid came back from a goal down yesterday courtesy of goals from Valverde and Joselu to grab their third comeback win of the season.

Speaking at the Santiago Bernabéu press room, Ancelloti said: “‘We’ve conceded goals in three of the five games we’ve played, and gone behind in them. We have to prevent that from happening because it’s hard to get back into the game and you have to make more of an effort, as we saw today. And today it was against a side who play very good football.

“We managed to do it thanks to the commitment, energy, and desire from the team, which has been something that’s been seen in all of these games. We’re capable of turning up with an intensity that our opponents find difficult to withstand for 90 minutes.

“The first half wasn’t bad. We looked to press high up the pitch, but the opposition played a very high defensive line and we had to attack more directly. It was a good game, although the goal we conceded happened in a move that we were expecting. Real Sociedad usually do this and it was discussed before the game. The opposition also has the quality to do this and surprise us. We’ve got a lot of options in terms of players who can score goals, but we can’t concede and go behind in games.”

In other news, the Italian manager became the second manager in Real Madrid’s history with 173 victories overtaking the record of Zidane, who racked up 172 wins, and behind Miguel Muñoz with 357 wins.
