Harry Maguire has made a positive change in his situation at Manchester United and is now in talks for a contract extension. Initially, it seemed unlikely he would stay after a tough season under Erik ten Hag.
However, after failed transfer moves to clubs like West Ham, Maguire chose to remain at United and improve his performance. Despite United’s poor start to the season and Ten Hag’s sacking, he has been a consistent and skilled player. His strong performances have led to encouraging discussions about renewing his contract.
In a media interview, Maguire expressed, “I haven’t really thought about it. I still have this year left with an option for the club to extend. But signs are positive, and the conversations I’ve had are encouraging.”
Maguire has been key in the squad under new coach Amorim, who praised him after United’s 2-1 victory against Manchester City. Amorim noted that he is well-suited for a three-defender setup and highlighted his strength against powerful opponents like Erling Haaland. He commended both Maguire and the team for their focused defending.
While Amorim has been rotating his players regularly, Maguire has remained a mainstay in the starting lineup. He is expected to start again when Manchester United faces Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, December 19.
