Crystal Palace is hoping to sign Maxence Lacroix, from Bundesliga team VfL Wolfsburg for a bid £14 million, plus add-ons. Fabrizio Romano provides an update stating that Crystal Palace is interested in Maxence Lacroix.

The Frenchman is Oliver Glasner’s primary goal to strengthen his team’s central defensive options. To sign him from Bundesliga team VfL Wolfsburg, the Eagles made an initial proposal of £12 million plus bonuses totalling £2 million.

When Lacroix moved from FC Sochaux to VfL Wolfsburg in August 2020, he immediately became one of the greatest young defenders in the Bundesliga. The French defender was raised in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, where he is originally from. Before graduating from FC Sochaux’s youth division, he went through the academies at AS Limeyrat Les Croquants, ES Montignac, FC Thenon Limeyrat, and Trélissac FC.

In the past four years, the 24-year-old has advanced greatly and established himself as a key player for Wolfsburg. Lacroix has made 130 appearances for the Bundesliga team thus far, contributing two assists and seven goals. However, as he approaches the last 12 months of his contract, the Frenchman’s future at the Volkswagen Arena is unknown.

Meanwhile, a number of renowned teams throughout Europe have taken notice of Maxence Lacroix’s quality. Oliver Glasner is eager for a reunion at Selhurst Park, therefore Crystal Palace may be his next stop. It makes sense that Maxence Lacroix will pique Crystal Palace’s interest. In anticipation of selling Joachim Andersen to Fulham, the Eagles are eager to bring in a centre defender before the summer transfer window opens.

The Danish international always wanted to stay at Selhurst Park by the South London club. But he has agreed to sign a contract worth almost £30 million to rejoin Fulham. Thus, Lacroix appears to be the leading choice for Crystal Palace to sign as a replacement.

Lacroix, meantime, is eager to use the summer transfer window to leave Wolfsburg and start a new journey. The Bundesliga team gave him the captain’s armband in an attempt to persuade him to remain at the Volkswagen Arena.
