Kylian Mbappe scored twice as Real Madrid came from behind to punish Las Palmas 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The convincing victory earned Madrid a return to the top of the LaLiga standings, following Atletico Madrid stunning loss Leganes.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side did not have a bright start to the game as the visitors pegged them early. Fabio Silva turned home a cross from Sandro Ramirez to pull Las Palmas into the lead with only 28 seconds on the clock.
However, Los Blancos responded back, turning the contest into a whitewash for Palmas.
Rodrygo earned a penalty for the hosts after he was caught in the leg by Sandro. Mbappe then stepped up to level the scoreline in the 18th minute.
Madrid took the lead in the 33rd minute as the Frenchman was involved in the goal also. His strike was denied by Jasper Cillessen only for Lucas Vazquez to square the rebound for Brahim Diaz to score.
Three minutes later, the former Paris Saint-Germain forward made it 3-1 with a fine first-time effort into the top corner from a Rodrygo cross.
Mbappe was then denied a 26-minute hat-trick by VAR after finding the back of the net just before the half time interval.
Ancelotti’s side made it 4-1, courtesy of Rodrygo’s strike in the 57th minute.
Meanwhile, the visitors were reduced to 10 men after Benito Ramirez was sent off for a high challenge on Lucas.
Real Madrid continued to dominate play as they looked to add to the scoreline. They were however denied by VAR on two more occasions after Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde had struck.
Madrid are now back at the top of La Liga, with two points ahead of Atletico and seven points clear of Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Mbappe now has 301 club career goals, after his brace in the game. The 26-year-old Frenchman has 18 goals for Madrid while he also scored 27 for Monaco and 256 for Paris Saint-Germain.
