AC Milan crashed out of the UEFA Champions League playoffs, following a 2-1 aggregate loss to Feyenoord.

Milan played a 1-1 draw in the second leg at home, having lost 1-0 to the Dutch side in the first leg, courtesy of Mike Maignan’s howler.

The return fixture had the perfect start, as Santiago Gimenez headed home Malick Thiaw’s assist in the first minute. Thiaw nodded a Christian Pulisic’s cross from Theo Hernandez’s short corner back across the face of goal for Gimenez to score against his former side.

The Italian side continued to ask more questions as they looked to take the lead on aggregate. However, they were unlucky in finding the back of the net, as they missed several chances to go ahead.

Hernandez fired a rebound onto the upright, while Rafael Leao and Gimenez missed their efforts.

The Rossoneris had more chances at the beginning of the second, only for goalkeeper Hancko to deny Felix and Kyle Walker.

However, the tie went open to the Dutch side when Hernandez received his marching order. The Frenchman received his second yellow card for simulation.

Feyenoord started pushing forward to take advantage of the one-man deficit spending n Milan’s side.

The Dutch side then restored their lead on aggregate through Julian Carranza’s towering header. The substitute met Hugo Bueno’s cross from the left, heading home between the Milan defenders from six yards.

Sergio Conceicao’s boys kept pushing to fight back but were unable to as Feyenoord progressed.
