Liverpool star, Mohamed Salah scored on his team’s first game of the season to set new opening day goal record.

The Egyptian doubled Liverpool’s lead at Portman Road in Arne Slot’s first official game in charge to score his ninth goal on the opening day of the Premier League

He overtook three Premier League legends; Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer who have eight matchday 1 goals during their respective careers.

In achieving this feat, Mo Salah scored against Watford, West Ham, Norwich, Leeds, Fulham and now Ipswich to make it nine goals.

Mo has only failed to score on opening day, when Liverpool played Chelsea last season, with Luis Díaz finding the net in the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

However, Salah will hope to extend the feat in his ninth season should he stay at the Merseyside next season as he only sets this new competition record in his eighth season.

The strike takes Salah’s overall tally to 212 goals for Liverpool, the fifth top goal scorer of all-time, now 16 goals away from equalling Billy Liddell’s 228 goals.

Salah’s effort also record as his 300th direct goal involvement for the Reds in what was his 350th Liverpool appearance in all competitions.
