‘I can’t give the fans a Christmas present’ – Jamal Musiala gives update on Bayern Munich contract talks 

Jamal Musiala has delivered an honest update on his Bayern Munich contract situation while admitting that he “can’t give the fans a Christmas present”.

The 21-year-old midfielder’s contract with Bayern lasts until 2026, but he is uncertain about his future. His next deal could make him Bayern’s highest-paid player, surpassing Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski.

In an interview with Sport BILD, Musiala said, “Unfortunately I can’t give the fans a Christmas present. There won’t be any news in the near future.”

He plans to take his time with the decision, stating, “We’ve had a lot of games recently, a lot of travelling. My focus is to concentrate on the games. I want to be free on the pitch, even if there’s a lot of pressure from outside.”

While a contract extension is undecided, Musiala has a vision for his future at Bayern. “I would like to leave my mark on an era at FC Bayern. If I extend my contract with FC Bayern, that’s my ambition and my goal,” he noted.

He understands that achieving this requires effort: “But I also know that you have to work for it, with victories, titles and major trophies. Then you get that kind of prestige. I want to earn that at FC Bayern.” Reports indicate Manchester City may bid €100m for Musiala to replace Kevin De Bruyne. However, Real Madrid is also interested in the talented player.

Musiala’s form for Bayern and the German team has been impressive. He recently won Player of the Year for the German men’s national team with 56% of the vote. Florian Wirtz was second with 38%, and Kai Havertz received 6%. As Bayern prepares to play RB Leipzig on Friday, he will aim to build on his eight goals and two assists in 12 Bundesliga matches this season.
