Jamal Musiala scored a header in the second half to give Bayern Munich a crucial 1-0 home victory over Benfica.
The Germany international scored with a bullet header from close range in the 67th minute, from Harry Kane’s assist.
Bayern dominated the game and missed several chances before breaking the deadlock in the second half.
The win was a much needed one for Vincent Kompany’s side who suffered two consecutive defeats in the competition – against Aston Villa and Barcelona – for the first time since 2017.
It lifted the Germans to six points from four matches and into 17th place on the log. They are levelled in points with Benfica who are 19th on the log.
Meanwhile, Benfica have never tasted victory against Bayern in an European competition. Having met 13 times, they have managed to collect only three draws and suffered 10 defeats.
They will travel to face Monaco next as Bayern set for a big clash with PSG.
