Which British players will be competing at the National Bank Open 2023?
Singles
Cam Norrie leads the British charge at this year’s event as he enters the men’s singles draw in Montreal as the 12th seed. Having already won one title so far this year on clay at the Rio Open, the Brit will be hoping to find his feet quickly on the hard courts and build up some form heading into the US Open.
He’ll be joined by 2022 semi-finalist Dan Evans – who just missed out on a spot in last year’s final after being ousted by eventual champion Pablo Carreno Busta, 7-6, 6-7(7), 6-2. Completing the men’s singles main draw line-up is three-time National Bank Open champion Andy Murray, who will be eager to make a winning start to his hard-court swing.
The qualifiers will also see some familiar British faces, with Katie Boulter and Jodie Burrage both set to contest for a spot in the main draw.
Doubles
Entering the tournament fresh off the back of winning their first Grand Slam title as a duo at Wimbledon, Neal Skupski is gearing up for a return to Canada to defend his men’s doubles title with partner Wesley Koolhof. Last year’s tournament saw the joint world No.1s clinch their second of three Masters 1000 titles they won in 2022 after the British, Dutch pair defeated Evans and John Peers 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 in the final. Can their winning streak continue?
From reigning champions to 2021 winners – Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram will be looking to string together a strong set of results, as they look to build momentum ahead of their title defence campaign in Flushing Meadows.
Elsewhere in the doubles draw, Lloyd Glasspool and Harri Heliovaara enter as 12th seeds while Jamie Murray and Michael Venus – who have already won three ATP titles this year – also join a strong British contingent.
