NBA 2K24 Summer League: Branham lights up Wizards in Spurs win.

Tuesday at Thomas & Mack Centre in the NBA 2K24 Summer League, the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Washington Wizards, 96-85.

In this hard-fought contest, there were 13 ties, 14 lead changes, and no team held an advantage greater than 13 points. That was San Antonio in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, which they had won 30-20. Up until the halfway point of the last period, neither team had a lead larger than eight points. Washington only made 19% of its long-range attempts (5-for-26), compared against San Antonio’s 38 percent (9-for-24). Additionally, the Spurs outscored the Wizards 14-10 in points from second chances.

Xavier Cooks led the Wizards (1-2) with 16 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Twelve points, eight rebounds, and two assists from Johnny Davis. Bilal Coulibaly recorded 10 points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals, and three blocks while Ryan Rollins recorded 13 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.

Malaki Branham led the Spurs (2-1), scoring 29 points and grabbing two rebounds. Finishing with 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists was Blake Wesley. The combined stats for Julian Champagnie and Dominick Barlow were 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. Both teams return to action on Friday, with San Antonio playing the Detroit Pistons and Washington facing the Oklahoma City Thunder.
