The Orlando Magic and New Orleans Pelicans preseason game has been canceled due to Hurricane Milton, which is expected to affect parts of Florida. The game was originally scheduled for Friday, October 11, at the Kia Center, but unfortunately, it won’t be rescheduled.

Hurricane Milton has already made landfall along Florida’s Gulf Coast as a Category 3 storm, and its effects are being felt across the state. The safety of everyone involved is the top priority, and the NBA has made the right call in canceling the game.

This isn’t the only game affected by the hurricane, though. The Miami Heat and Atlanta Hawks game, which was supposed to take place on October 10, has been postponed until October 16. Other sports teams, like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, have also taken precautions, evacuating early to avoid the storm.

The storm is expected to bring 6 to 12 inches of rain, with some areas potentially seeing up to 18 inches, so it’s great that the NBA is prioritizing safety.
