1. Mitchell Robinson of The New York Knicks
According to ESPN, New York Knicks big player Mitchell Robinson had surgery on his left ankle to fix a stress fracture he suffered in Game 1 of the team’s second-round series against the Indiana Pacers. Robinson has had surgery on the same ankle twice this season; although he was previously anticipated to be out for six to eight weeks, this effectively means he will miss the remainder of the postseason. Robinson was initially predicted to miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on the same ankle in December. However, he made a comeback in March and managed to contribute at the rest of the regular season and in the opening game of New York’s first-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Though the Knicks felt Joel Embiid made a foul play that resulted in Mitchell exiting the game in a walking boot, Mitchell re-injured his ankle against the Sixers in Game 3 of that series. He didn’t play in Game 4, but he did participate in the previous two games versus the Sixers. However, he only played 12 minutes in Game 1 against the Pacers. The day following that game, the Knicks revealed that he had an ankle stress fracture.
2. OG Anunoby of The New York Knicks.
OG Anunoby, a forward, hurt his leg during a transition layup attempt. It appeared as though he had thrown the ball off the backboard carelessly because the injury occurred in the middle of the effort during New York’s eventual 130-121 victory. Finally, due to a strained left hamstring, he was ruled out.
Anunoby has been playing almost the whole game for the Knicks this postseason, along with Josh Hart, Donte DiVincenzo, Isaiah Hartenstein, and Brunson. In light of Anunoby’s extensive injury history, that was a risky strategy, but it appears like the whole New York team is beginning to feel the effects of playing so many more minutes in Game 2.
3. Tyrese Haliburton Of The Indiana Pacers.
Tyrese Haliburton, the point guard for Indiana, has a long list of ailments, including lower back spasms, a sacral contusion, and a sprained right ankle, and is listed as questionable for Game 5. An injury plagued Haliburton for a large portion of the 2023–24 season. The 2024 All-Star had a hamstring injury in January. Because of the illness, he missed ten games.
4. Jamal Murray of the Denver Nuggets.
In the Denver Nuggets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves series, Jamal Murray is on the injury report for the fifth straight game. Jamal Murray has a left calf strain, thus the Denver Nuggets have officially labelled him as questionable for Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Murray had a difficult time against the Minnesota Timberwolves in both Game 1 and Game 2, but it appeared like he had regained his footing more recently. In the third game, Murray shot 52% from the field and finished with 24 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. Murray finished Game 4 with 19 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 47% shooting from the field. Even though Jamal Murray has played better lately in the series, his total stats have remained remarkably low by his standards. Jamal Murray is averaging 17.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.8 steals while shooting 40/35/100 from the field during the Western Conference Semifinals.
5. Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves
This season, Rudy Gobert was named Defensive Player of the Year. He has been a double-double machine for the Timberwolves the entire time. The Frenchman has been in charge of Minnesota’s outstanding defence all season long. Even if they managed to win a game without his assistance, Rudy’s presence will be crucial for the Wolves when they play at home.
The Wolves will benefit greatly from Rudy Gobert’s return to the starting lineup since they will have their defensive player of the year back. It will be extremely difficult for the Nuggets to win a game in Minnesota if Gobert continues to play at full capacity. For the Wolves, who concluded with almost 50 wins in the regular season, Gobert averaged 14 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
