Newcastle United will play West Ham tonight to finish the latest Premier League fixtures. They will aim to continue their winning run, which includes victories over Chelsea in the league and Carabao Cup, as well as a win against Arsenal at St James’ Park.

As Newcastle prepares for the match, they are also looking ahead to the January transfer window. With only weeks left in 2024, Eddie Howe and his team are considering how to strengthen the squad and improve their position in the table.

This season is becoming unpredictable, with Chelsea now in third place, Manchester City trailing eight points behind Liverpool, and Nottingham Forest close to the top six.

Newcastle is still interested in several players, including some long-term targets from the summer. One of these targets is Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.

Guehi was highly sought after during the summer, and Newcastle was one of the teams trying to sign him. However, Palace rejected four bids, with the last one offering £65 million. Palace was determined to keep Guehi, but it seems he may leave in 2025.

Guehi will have just 18 months left on his contract when January arrives, and Newcastle is preparing to make another move. According to reports, Guehi is not eager to extend his contract with Palace.

He has concerns about staying at Selhurst Park, especially since Palace is struggling this season. Guehi believes he could secure a move to a Champions League team, which makes him hesitant to commit his future to Palace.

Additionally, no talks have taken place recently between Guehi and Palace about a new contract. The club is also not willing to spend heavily on wages, given their serious concerns about relegation. Currently, Palace sits in 19th position in the Premier League, with just eight points from 12 games.
