The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Éric Sékou Chelle as the Head Coach of Nigeria’s senior men’s national football team, the Super Eagles.

The decision was made during the NFF Executive Committee meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday, 7th January 2025.

Following the recommendation of the sub-committee, Chelle, the former coach of Mali’s senior men’s national team, was appointed.

The Malian, aside the Mali national team, has previously coached clubs such as GS Consolat, FC Martigues, Boulogne, and MC Oran.

Meanwhile, since 2022, he has been Mali’s head coach, where he earned five caps as a player for the Aiglons.

The 47-year-old also enjoyed a playing career in France, representing Martigues, Valenciennes, Lens, Istres, and Chamois Niortais.

However, he is tasked with leading the Super Eagles to secure a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals. His appointment also is of immediate effect.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will be having their next qualifying matches scheduled for March.
